Being the Tindersticks third album, 'Curtains' is the most praised by fans. Seductive sound, luscious songwriting, smooth singing are just a few impressions from several media. Isabella Rossellini makes an appearance and sings a duet with Stuart Staples, which was a welcome surprise for the steadily growing fanbase at the time. The Tindersticks stayed away from the standards of the Britpop/rock scene and have become a band that is not easily boxed into a category. After producing two albums that were seriously dark and string-drenched, they managed to produce a slightly lighter sound filled with a subtlety preserving their beloved dark side and managed to include humor, melancholy and intimacy.
