Just over a year after his last, self-titled 'break up album', David Longstreth is back again. This time he is noticeably better about himself. He returns to the form of yesteryear, while pushing the boundaries of his idiom again. Lamp Pit Prose is the yang of the yin of its predecessor: heartbreak has given way to hope. The typical African guitar riffs are back. And also the harmony vocals so recognizable from the older work, this time with new band members Maia Friedman (vocals / guitar), Felicia Douglass (vocals / percussion) and Kristin Slipp (vocals / keyboards). Two veterans also return to Dirty Projectors: Nat Baldwin (bass) and Mike Johnson (drums). Guest artists such as Haim, Robin Pecknold, Syd, Rostam, Empress Of, Amber Mark and Dear Nora also make their appearance.
