Originally released in 1959 as ‘Legrand Jazz’, this landmark recording returns in a special centenary edition retitled Michel Legrand Meets Miles Davis, celebrating 100 years of Miles Davis. Recorded in New York in 1958, the album captures Michel Legrand’s visionary arrangements of jazz standards, brought to life by an extraordinary ensemble of leading musicians of the era.
Featuring contributions from Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Ben Webster, Art Farmer and many others, the sessions stand as a defining moment where orchestral ambition meets modern jazz improvisation. This reissue presents the album with newly designed artwork based on original session photography, along with a previously unpublished note by Michel Legrand reflecting on these historic recordings.
