Pink Floyd's "Live At Knebworth 1990" album. This album includes the tracks: "Comfortably Numb", "The Great Gig In The Sky" and "Wish You Were Here". Warner Music has announced the release of Pink Floyd's "Live At Knebworth 1990". This is for the first time for sale on CD or double vinyl. The concert was part of the star-studded 1990 Silver Clef Winners performance at Knebworth House, Hertfordshire, headlined by Pink Floyd. At the Silver Clef Award winners' landmark concert in Knebworth, Pink Floyd topped the all-star list, including Paul McCartney, Dire Straits, Genesis, Phil Collins, Mark Knopfler, Robert Plant (with Jimmy Page), Cliff Richard, Eric Clapton and Tears For Fears.
About 120,000 music fans saw these rock giants appear on the hallowed stage of Knebworth, all for the benefit of the Nordoff Robbins charity, whose profits went towards the creation of the BRIT School. The concert was broadcast worldwide on MTV. David Munns, President of Nordoff Robbins, remembers the event well: “The Knebworth concert was a defining moment in the music industry's commitment to Nordoff Robbins, the BRIT Trust and the BRIT School concept. What a fantastic day it was, culminating in this brilliant performance by Pink Floyd. With the money raised, the BRIT School was founded and Nordoff Robbins was able to significantly expand its services. Knebworth will go down in history as one of those great moments and the music industry should be very proud of what it has achieved. "
Nick Mason also reminisces about the performance: “There is something special about Knebworth. We all still have fond memories of playing there in the 70's, and this show was no different. As a boy from North London, this was almost a home game, but with the added pleasure of having the band reassembled after quite a mega tour that had lasted over a year. It was also an opportunity to get the awesome Candy Dulfer playing - I had been a fan of hers for a while, and it was just a shame we didn't have a chance to use her for more. We also had a guest from our good friend Michael Kamen. Michael had contributed so much to PF over the past ten years, it's great to have some of his game on the recording. Pink Floyd - David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright - were joined onstage by members of their touring band, including Guy Pratt, Jon Carin, Tim Renwick and Gary Wallis. Backing vocals were provided by Durga McBroom, Sam Brown and her mother Vicki, and (original lead singer of The Great Gig In The Sky) Clare Torry. Pink Floyd also welcomed guest musicians, including saxophonist Candy Dulfer and keyboardist and composer Michael Kamen.
David Gilmour and Andy Jackson remixed the audio from this iconic concert with all seven tracks performed on the day, and the album features new artwork recorded by Floyd collaborator Aubrey 'Po' Powell of Hipgnosis and designed by Peter Curzon of Storm Studios. Previously unreleased until appearing on the 2019 Later Years box set, the concerto is now available for the first time as a CD or double vinyl set as a standalone album.
