Invited by Stokowski to conduct the LA Philharmonic when he was nine years old, then to lead Toscanini’s NBC Symphony Orchestra just two years later, Lorin Maazel was one of the greatest conductors of the last century. He started recording for DG in 1957, making his debut with a celebrated Tchaikovsky album. Ahead of the tenth anniversary of his death (2024), DG has collected together his complete recordings for the Yellow Label in a single edition for the first time.
